I Choose To Glorify God

“And immediately he rose up before them and picked up what he had been lying on and went home, glorifying God.” Luke 5:25 ESV

Reflection: who do you glorify?

The last day of any year is not like any other day of the year. It is important to do some reflection on what happened throughout the year. And, for most, it is a mixed bag of experiences. Some that have been just a pure joy, perhaps seeing the hand of God doing great things, and others that have been difficult. Perhaps some things have even been painful at times, leaving us wondering of purpose.

I think we can all agree that this journey through life is by no means easy, but it is full of adventure. If we listen to all the noise from the world, it can be exhausting, even discouraging. It can even drive us into being fearful for the future as we think about the year ahead. But, as children of God, we don’t have to be fearful. We don’t have to listen to the world (you know, it is a choice whether to listen to so-called news, etc.) In fact, let’s not. Instead, let’s listen more to God, and choose to glorify our Lord God for who He is, for what he is doing.

I end this year of writing these devotionals with a hope that they have encouraged you to spend more time with God, in His word, in prayer, curious about His will and plans for your life. And as we all step our foot into the unknown of a new year, let’s remember that it is not unknown to our God. He reigns forever.

Psalm 146:

“Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul! I will praise the Lord as long as I live; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.

Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation. When his breath departs, he returns to the earth; on that very day his plans perish.

Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, who keeps faith forever; who executes justice for the oppressed, who gives food to the hungry.

The Lord sets the prisoners free; the Lord opens the eyes of the blind. The Lord lifts up those who are bowed down; the Lord loves the righteous.

The Lord watches over the sojourners; he upholds the widow and the fatherless, but the way of the wicked he brings to ruin.

The Lord will reign forever, your God, O Zion, to all generations. Praise the Lord!” Psalm 146:1-10 ESV

Amen.
